What is responsive web design?

Australian consumers are more connected than ever and consumers expect brands to address their needs in real-time.

In short, Responsive Web Design makes your web page look good across all devices (desktops, tablets, and phones) using CSS and HTML to automatically resize, hide, shrink, enlarge, or move the content to make it look good on any screen.

Why should I have a responsive website?

Without a responsive website, you’ll be losing valuable customers. According to Google, 60% of people won’t stay on your site if it’s not mobile friendly (which is why Google ranks responsive websites higher than non-responsive websites).

Recent research from IAB Australia shows that smartphone and tablet ownership, surfing the web, as well as total time spent on devices, has increased substantially and shows no sign of slowing down.

According to The Nielsen Company research, the number of Australians who own a smartphone has increased to over 15 million and some 12 million owning a tablet device with smartphone’s and tablet’s making up 63% of total time spent on devices as of September 2015.

Creative Block: 5 Simple Steps To Overcome Creative Block

Creative block is the enemy of many professionals across industries, from designers to developers and everything in between. A constant flow of new and innovative ideas are necessary for any agency to be successful and remain ahead of the curve.

We’ve compiled a list of our top tips to keep those creative juices flowing:

  1. Tune into Tchaikovsky. Music stimulates the part of the brain that controls creativity and emotion, so crank the office stereo. If you’re still struggling, tune into some Tchaikovsky as studies have shown that classical music, in particular, boosts creativity and concentration.
  2. Think outside the box. Changing up your environment is key to unleashing creativity. Simply moving from your usual workstation to a new space, such as a kitchen or outside table. Even wandering around the office can make minds feel free and result in better creative thinking.
  3. Head to the pub. Believe it or not, you have a reason to head to the pub for a cold one. Participants in a study who consumed an average of three standard alcoholic drinks were more creative than people who didn’t drink at all. This could be due to the fact that alcohol lets us think more broadly and enables us to connect unrelated ideas.
  4. Ask a friend. Don’t be afraid to brainstorm with a colleague or friend. They might mention something that sparks a whole new stream of thought. The more ideas and perspectives, the better the outcome!
  5. Visit your local coffee shop. Ambient noise levels are the best sound for the creative mind. A study has proven that people were most creative with a moderate level of noise in the background. This is because the noise around us is only slightly distracting, encouraging our brains to try a little harder to think more imaginatively.

Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep. ~ Scott Adams
